About Wellington
We have been volunteering in the community since 1939. Our members enjoy friendship and fellowship, organising and executing local projects and events.
We enjoy our book group, social outings (tours of interesting places), coffee catch-ups and Soroptimist interest groups. Our local community project and advocacy changes each year in response to the need.
Examples are, period poverty (working with the Wellington City Mission Social Supermarket), House of Grace, a donation towards a van to enable the mothers and their babies attend events and appointments and fundraising for two hoists for the Wellington Childrens Hospital.
Our National Project 2022-2025 is Ovarian Cancer. We educate, advocate, and raise funds to reduce the impact of Ovarian Cancer in New Zealand. We work hard to raise awareness of the symptons of ovarian cancer by holding seminars with experts and distributing pamphlets and sympton cards.
