SISWP President Anusha Santhirasthipam
Dear Soroptimist sisters, partners, and sponsors,
It is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you all personally to a Royal Experience at UNESCO Heritage Royal Kingdom City of Yogyakarta where we will host the SISWP Conference of Clubs 2020 at Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta, Indonesia with the theme "Prospering Rural & Indigenous Women: Our Tapestry for Transformation". Our Conference is the time to renew our commitment to Soroptimist goals and objectives, revitalize and deepen our knowledge and skills with fresh perspectives and global direction, rejuvenate and grow our team at all levels of the organisation.
We are lining up a powerful and exciting combination of keynote speakers and experiential workshop presenters that will reinforce and expand upon the Biennium 2018-2020 Theme of "Embrace, Create & Prosper" with special emphasis on empowering, prospering and celebrating rural and indigenous women.
We have designed a diverse, interactive, informative and futuristic programme that infuses the passion and dynamism of participants with the wisdom and experiences of expert speakers. You will have an excellent opportunity to see, listen, and be inspired to action by Iconic Women Leaders and Social Entrepreneurs who are champions of Sustainable Development and Climate Action.
This Conference will be distinctly different from past Conferences, with greater time and attention focused upon best practice projects that demonstrate innovation, creativity and sustainability. We will explore how such programmes can be scaled up, expanded, replicated and funded to become self-sustaining social enterprises.
You can expect much excitement, joyful camaraderie and wonderful cultural immersion of food, music, dance and decorative elements during our Friendship Dinner and Royal Gala Dinner in a grand ambiance. Every detail of your conference experience has been conceived with meticulous care and attention to ensure affordability, convenience, safety and comfort during your stay in Yogyakarta.
During lunches and coffee breaks, the environment will be set up to facilitate conversation circles that nurture friendships and ignite ideas for collaboration. For the first time ever, you will see and experience Young Soroptimists, Corporate Partners and digital media experts in action at our special workshops.
We will celebrate your initiatives at Inter-club Skills Exchange, Partner Across Borders and Mentor Young Creators Projects. You will have ample opportunities to make networking connections and grow your friendship links. Together, may we become a powerful social force to make the world a better place for women and the sustainability of our planet, people and resources.
2020 is the year that we commemorate 25 years since the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action for Gender Equality. It is also the 5 years review of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. SISWP, being a United Nations ECOSOC Special Status accredited organization, will renew and reaffirm our programmes of action in line with ensuring gender equality is achieved across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We are eager to hear your voices. We want you to show up and share your ideas and experiences. We need to know what truly matters to you and how collectively we can make things happen with greater brand visibility, impact and recognition.
