Congratulations to CSW63 Scholarship Winner   -  Kimberly Berem from SI Ramu, Papua New Guinea.

Kimberly Berem is a Lawyer in Papua New Guinea and has been a member of SI Ramu since 2014. Currently she holds the position of Club President and during her time with SI Ramu she has also held the positions of Programme/UN Liaison and Membership Training and Extension Convenor.

As an active member of SI Ramu she has been integral in securing funds for Health and Education projects for the SI Ramu Club along with hosting major fundraising events and assisting in projects including the building of cooking facilities at a local health clinic and renovations to a Health Centre.


Kimberly says that she is humbled and honoured accepting this opportunity. Through being a Soroptimist, she is inspired to do more to ensure that women and girls needs are included in planning public service in PNG and that women and girls are included in the decision-making process on issues impacting their lives at a local and national level.


We wish Kimberly a HUGE Congratulations on winning the Scholarship and look forward to hearing from her during her time at CSW63.

Commission on the Status of Women (CSW):


A global policy-making body, CSW is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) dedicated exclusively to the promotion of gender equity and the advancement of women.

Every year, representatives of the member states gather at the United Nations headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equity, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and advancement of women worldwide.


CSW63 (2019)


The sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 11 to 22 March 2019.
Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are expected to attend the session.
Themes:
Priority theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
Review theme: Women's empowerment and the link to sustainable development (agreed conclusions of the sixtieth session);
